Tammy McKean, Media Coordinator
Tammy McKean serves as Media Coordinator for First United Methodist Church of Pendleton and South Madison. She has called our church “home” for over 40 years, as she grew up in this church family at the Pendleton Campus. Tammy prepares the worship bulletins and church newsletters, as well as other materials which help inform and invite persons into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ, fellowship with others, or service to God’s children thereby assisting our local congregation to fulfill the United Methodist objective of Making Disciples of Jesus Christ for the Transformation of the World.
Growing up at First UMC, and actively participating in the children’s ministry and Youth Group here, prepared Tammy for the point when, as a teenager, she understood that God’s call on her heart required a response on her part. With the knowledge that God was calling her into deeper relationship with Him, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior, and committed her life to serving Him, during Senior High Institute at Epworth Forest. From that time, until now, Tammy has been going through the process of learning to trust God more fully in all aspects of her life, relying on Him and, in return, gaining joy and peace which then leads to hope for the future. In fact, one of her favorite Bible verses is a blessing found in Romans 15:13: “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace, as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
Tammy serves on the ministry team which brings worship services to the people who live at Fall Creek Retirement Center on the second and fifth Sundays each month, as well as facilitating weekly Bible Study for the residents at Fall Creek. She also enjoys participating in group Bible studies, especially those in the Disciple Bible Study series.
Due to the desire to reach others for Christ, Tammy serves as a trained Stephen Leader to help others to bring the care and love of Christ to hurting people in our congregation and community, and also participates as a member of the Evangelism Team. She participates in traditional worship at Pendleton Campus as a member of the chancel choir and serves as liturgist on occasion.
Tammy has three children: Kourtney, who is married to Matt Gallegos, and Lee and Bradley who are still at home, here in Pendleton.
