Pastor Doug Walker, Lead Pastor
Rev. Dr. Doug Walker is Senior Pastor for First United Methodist Church Ministries of Pendleton and South Madison. Pastor Doug is an ordained Elder in the Indiana Conference, having earned a Doctor of Ministry at United Theological Seminary where he focused on Spirituality and Preaching with PowerPoint. His dissertation is titled, “Preaching With Visuals: A Spirit Filled, Electronic Stained Glass Window,” and it becomes apparent during his sermons that Pastor Doug enjoys teaching, as well as preaching. Prior to obtaining his doctorate, Pastor Doug received a Masters of Divinity degree from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary, and has been blessed to serve the people of God for over 20 years in church ministry.
Most churches which he has pastored have grown spiritually, as well as numerically, reflecting that Doug’s mission for ministry is “to help people grow closer to God.” This means that he wants to empower and enable people to strengthen their personal relationship with God from wherever they stand--as a new believer, a non-believer, or a lifetime believer.
Pastor Doug and his wife, Linda, have two children, Matt & Lori, who both live in the Indianapolis area. Matt is a high school teacher in technology, and Lori is a full-time nanny and is married to Jeff Gravenstreter. Doug loves to fish and hack at golf in his free time.
Pastor Doug is looking forward to worshipping with you every Sunday, and he invites you come and celebrate and worship God as we “grow closer to God through Jesus Christ, empowered by the Holy Spirit” together.
